The MJCCC operates many regular and
sessional cultural, musical, and fitness programs. You
can find a copy of our program registration form at the
bottom of this page.
Here is a current listing of our programs for Fall 2008
(dates will be updated as information becomes
available):

If you are between the
ages of four and 15, consider entering the
16th
Kanagawa Biennial World Children’s Art Exhibition
“The Kanagawa Biennial World Children’s
Art Exhibition has been held every two years since 1981.
Held in Kanagawa Prefecture to the south of Tokyo, this
event exhibits children’s art from all over the world, and
is intended to use the power of painting to foster the
dreams and creativity of today’s young children who will go
on to become the leaders of tomorrow. The exhibition is
also intended to further understanding of the world’s
diverse cultures and differences in global lifestyles.”
Applicants must be between the ages of
four and fifteen as of April 1, 2010. Entrants should mail
their entry (applications by email will not be accepted) to
be received between September 1 and November 30, 2010.

Jean
Maeda is a native
Winnipegger who has lived for 25 years in Japan.
She studied Japanese classical dance in the Hanayagi
School for 15 years and received the name Hanayagi
Suzukino in 1985. She also took courses with the
Japan Folk Dance Federation and received their first
level folk dance qualification. Jean has performed
in ten classical dance recitals in Japan, doing
dances such as Fuji Musume, Kanda Matsuri and Ohmi
no Okane. She has also participated in Folklorama
here in Winnipeg and in the Powell Street Festival
in Vancouver.

combination of agility, strength, and mental
discipline, judo is a Japanese martial art
form that offers children a chance to gain skills
and self-confidence. Students will practice
